Labor Day

Labor Day is a great time to celebrate the conclusion of another summer season enjoyed with family, friends and grilling outside.

Labor Day can also be a signal announcing the home stretch of another year. There is plenty of time left to reach annual goals, make one final push and get focused for that final few months of increased effort to end the year on a solid note.

2009 has been a challenging year for most businesses and executives. I hear many people mentally throwing away the rest of the year and ready to chalk it up to a year of loss and set their sights on making next year even better.

Many fantastic things can happen in the 120 days we have left this year. Instead of allowing these days to end up in garbage time like the end of an unwinnable basketball game, use the ample time left to salvage this year. The economy is improving, we have shown good resiliency, and it’s time to make a move to make this year the best it can be.

Enjoy your holiday today and hit the ground tomorrow refreshed mentally ready to make a difference for the rest of 2009.
